Milwaukee Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) identity 1997
This is the first of two full corporate identity projects I designed as a student at UW-Madison. MEDC is a quasi-governmental company that encourages business growth in the city and county of Milwaukee by, in part, administering low-cost loans to small businesses (including minority-owned) and overseeing the cleanup of contaminated land.
The mark represents a vital and growing city; the curved lines imply an organic element. The color is symbolic of Milwaukee's past as the "Cream City", so-called because of the unique cream-colored brick used in many of its early downtown buildings.
