Wisconsin: Celebrate 150 Years poster 1997
The state of Wisconsin, my home from 1975 (the year of my birth) until 1999, held a sesquicentennial poster competition for its 150th anniversary in 1998. This poster, designed in 1997, was my entry.
To capture the many aspects of life in Wisconsin in classic poster form, I focused on two contrasting, iconic images. A simplified satellite floats in a blue field above a barn grounded in a green field, to signify the relationship between technology and agriculture, two disciplines in which Wisconsin has been a leading state.
I was notified by mail that my poster was chosen as a "finalist," a designation awarded to the top three posters in the competition.
